Anode Rod for Atwood or Suburban Water Heaters-Magnesium
An anode rod protects your water heater from corrosion by attracting corrosive elements in water, so they attack the anode rod rather than the interior of your water heater's tank. Simply remove the plastic drain plug and insert the unit. Atwood's anode rod is 4.5" long, with a 1/2" pipe thread and made of Magnesium alloy,
Check every three months or when you drain your water heater, whichever is sooner. If the rod has deteriorated about 75%, simply replace. To drain the tank, just unscrew the anode rode. Keep a spare one in your RV to make the anode rod exchange easier.
